Mound Intimidation: Collecting Cards of Dodger Legend Don Drysdale
Dodgers pitching legend Don Drysdale was known for intimidation. His deceptive sidearm motion and 95-mile-per-hour fastball were enough to scare anybody, not to mention his enthusiasm for bruising batters. It's fitting, then, that collecting Drysdale cards can be equally intimidating. Scarce rookies, condition problems, and obscure test issues await the collector trying to build a complete Drysdale set. Click here to read on.

1961 Nu-Card Baseball Scoops
The 1961 Nu-Card Scoops issue was an unusual and unappreciated set, where each card reported on baseball events newspaper-style and featured simple, black-and-white photos. Nu-Card Scoops are plain vanilla, but they're scarce and they're affordable. Click here to learn more about them.

ZBob - The Number One Current Finest 1980-81 Topps Basketball Set
Bob Zimmer (ZBob) won a major award in the recently announced 2007 PSA Set Registry Awards. His basketball set won for Best Modern Basketball Set of the Year (1972-present). Bob's set has an amazingly high set rating of 9.75 (the Finest Possible is 9.94). The second ranked set is at 9.34. As expected, the ZBob set is filled with PSA 10s and Top Pops. The Johnson/Cartwright As/Gross, Knight/Free As/Dantley, and Buse/Dantley As/Bailey cards in this set are the single finest 10s ever graded. Click here to see what it takes to be an award winner.

Question: Can a reprint have value?

Answer: As a matter of fact -- it can. Some reprints are cheaply produced novelty items and have relatively little value while other reprints are produced by the original manufacturer in a higher quality format. While the reprints do not have great value in most cases, it is not uncommon for a high quality reprint of a major player like Mickey Mantle to sell for $100 or more in high-grade. It allows for the average collector to own a nice replica since they may not be able to shell out thousands of dollars for the real deal.

Which of the following modern-era rookie cards do you think has the best long-term potential?

  4. 1988 Score Tom Glavine
