Our Readers Ask

Question: I wanted to know if a card goes up in value if the wrong information is printed on the back. I have a 1989 Topps Randy Velarde card that says he was drafted on June 14, 1935! What's the deal?

Answer: Velarde must be in great shape! With all the technology today, you never know. All right, let's get serious. In a case where an error exists, but a factory never did anything to correct it, the card is not usually worth a premium. The card is a nice novelty item and a Randy Velarde collector might have a few laughs, but unfortunately, this card is probably not worth a stick of gum.
