Elgin Baylor was the first greatest player of all time. When he came into the league from Seattle, no one, and I mean no one, had ever seen anyone play with that skill and with those moves. Even taking the ball to and through the great Bill Russell. One year, he averaged 34.8 ppg and 19.8 rebounds. Just missing the 20-20 club, but at 6'5", bordering on the miraculous. He lasted as the greatest player of all time only until Oscar came into the league, but his acrobatic skills, shooting and athleticism were in a world of their own. His ability to do things above the basket, when no one except Russ had been there, makes him one of the top 5 of all time.
