Each year, the Baseball Writers Association of America issues an award to the most outstanding rookie in each league and that award is called the Rookie of the Year. Sometimes, the winner is a player who goes on to greatness as his first full season is merely a sign of things to come. Players like Rod Carew and Derek Jeter fit this description. Other times, a player is able to shine right out of the gate only to succumb to the pressure of great expectations. This is often referred to as the Sophomore Jinx, where ROY winners fail to perform their very next year in the league. Perhaps no one player is known more for starting his career with a bang only to fizzle quickly than Joe Charboneau. The names included in this set are fascinating for that very reason.
Notes: All balls autographed on the "sweet spot" receive 1 bonus point.
