The Wagner has sold, the National Sports Convention is upon us and the rest of that T206 set is now close to auction.

The state of the hobby is very exciting right now with the recent publicity surrounding the sale of the famous T206 Honus Wagner. It sold for an amazing $1,265,000! The market levels of high-end sports memorabilia continue to rise and participation seems to be at an all-time high. This is great news for collectors and dealers alike.

In addition, the National Sports Convention has arrived to Southern California. This will be a great opportunity to analyze what's happening in the market and what items are hot. We will bring you a full report in the next edition of the Market Report. As always, I am sure there will be a lot to talk about.

Finally, the rest of the T206 set is coming to auction in early August and the excitement has already begun. With the recent sale of the Wagner, the timing couldn't be more perfect. The Kirk Harris set is, by far, the nicest in the world and it was the very first set to be pedigreed. Each card will be labeled "Harris Collection" at the top. Joe Orlando has been an advanced collector of sportscards and memorabilia for over 30 years. After a brief stint in the minor leagues, Orlando obtained a Juris Doctor from Whittier Law School in Southern California in the spring of 1999. Orlando's first book, The Top 200 Sportscards in the Hobby, was released in the summer of 2002. His second book, Collecting Sports Legends, was released in the summer of 2008. Orlando has appeared on numerous radio and television programs as a hobby expert including ESPN's award-winning program Outside the Lines, HBO's Real Sports and the Fox Business Network, as the featured guest. Currently, Orlando is the President of PSA and PSA/DNA, the largest trading card and sports memorabilia authentication services in the hobby. He is also Editor of the company's nationally distributed Sports Market Report, which under Orlando's direction has developed into a leading resource in the market.
