In being the set to first introduce Mickey Mantle and Willie Mays to the collecting hobby, the 1951 Bowman set established its place in sportscard history. Needless to say, these two cards are among the most desirable items on many serious collector's want lists. Another prized rookie card from this issue is that of Whitey Ford, which also has the distinction of being the first card in the set.
