This interesting pre-war baseball card set consists of 108 cards and was produced by National Chicle. For a 3-year period, the set featured the same images on the front but different statistics on the reverse (year to year - it is a way to distinguish the cards). Superstar players like Jimmie Foxx, Hank Greenberg, and Lefty Grove are featured with the Grove card being an extremely desirable condition-rarity as the first card in the set. There are also a few key variations like the misspelled "Greenburg" example. If the set included cards of Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig, it would certainly be worth a lot more today. On a positive note, the set becomes more affordable for collectors who desire a challenging set from the pre-war era. Extreme toning of the edges might be the biggest condition obstacle along with general wear.
