The 1969-70 Topps Basketball set is truly one of the most collectible basketball card issues in the hobby. The "Tall Boy" design and overall difficulty of the cards create strong demand for the set that includes the legendary rookie card of Lew Alcindor (AKA - Kareem Abdul Jabbar) and a #1 card of Wilt Chamberlain. In addition to the Alcindor rookie card, rookie cards of Bill Bradley, Willis Reed, Wes Unseld, Earl Monroe, Connie Hawkins, Dave Bing, Gail Goodrich, Nate Thurmond, Billy Cunningham, Walt Frazier, Elvin Hayes and Dave DeBusschere are amongst those which inhabit the set. Most of these rookie cards feature Hall of Famers. The design and manufacturing process caused many of these cards to be produced with poor centering and the oversized nature of the cards made it difficult to protect the corners and edges from wear over the years. All in all, this set is a key for basketball collectors. To read an in-depth article, click here.
