The 1974-75 O-Pee-Chee WHA hockey set consists of 66 cards measuring 2-1/2” by 3-1/2”. Originally packaged in eight-card ten-cent packs, the full-color cards feature a player photo, posed in front of a plain background, with a printed signature. To the left of the image is a banner bearing the player’s team (one of the 14 in the World Hockey Association), in varying colors, with the player’s position and name below. Each card back of the 1974-75 O-Pee-Chee set boasts the card‘s number in the upper left corner, followed by his position, team name, vital statistics and a fun fact – written in English and then French. The center features the player’s name; the middle tells a story about the player – once again in English and French, and at the bottom is the player’s year and lifetime statistics. Centering is an issue with this set, so high grade exemplars can be difficult to find. Key cards include: The Howes (#1) – Gordie/Mark/Marty, Ulf Nilsson RC (#4), Andres Hedberg RC (#17), Gerry Cheevers (#30), Frank Mahovlich (#40), Bobby Hull (#50), Checklist (#53) and Jacques Plante (#64).
