The 1964-65 Topps hockey set is one of the most desirable sets in the hockey card hobby. The large designs predated the "Tall Boy" football and basketball sets that also became very popular with collectors over the years. In the high-number series, cards 56-110, there are 11 short prints (SP) that are considered very tough to locate. Key cards such as the Gordie Howe, Bobby Hull, and Jacques Plante cards fill the set with star power. In addition, the checklists are very tough to find, especially in top condition. While hockey may not be as popular as other major sports, this set is widely considered more difficult than both the football and basketball versions of the "Tall Boy" design. Poor centering and print defects plague the cards and, due to the large design, the corners were susceptible to wear over the years. This is a very tough and desirable set.
