The 1983 Topps Baseball set consists of 793 cards, each measuring 2-1/2" by 3-1/2”. At the time, this set marked Topps’ largest set offering – topping the previous year’s record-holder by a single card. Every card front featured an in-action pose with a small portrait of the player at the lower right corner. A rectangular area near the bottom of the card housed his name and position, with the team name appearing at the bottom border. This set is anchored by the regular issue cards of Pete Rose (#100), Cal Ripken, Jr. (#163), Mike Schmidt (#300) and Nolan Ryan (#360). Rookie cards include future Hall of Famers Ryne Sandberg (#83), Tony Gwynn (#482) and Wade Boggs (#498). Subsets include record breakers (#s 1-6), all-stars (#s 386-407) and league leaders (#s 701-708).
