On April 28th, Mile High Card Company will open bidding for its Spring 2011 auction, which closes

with an exceptional amount of
interest and excitement surrounding the extensive, nearly 2400 lot offering.

The Distinguished Auction - A Dying Breed?
There was a time when auctions were very limited in our industry and only the very best of the best items were offered in, what many
people considered to be, a grand event. That is not the case anymore as some auctions have ceased being "events" and have now become merely
a preferred method of selling. In the following piece, Joe Orlando discusses this change in our hobby and wonders if the word "auction"
will ever carry the same meaning again.
The 1966 Topps Superman Set - More Adventures for Superman Collectors
Superman is not only the most popular comic book character of all-time, but the fabled character has also been the subject of many
popular movies and television shows over the years. In 1966, Topps decided to commemorate the popular 1950s Adventures of Superman
television show with a 66-card set. For those of you who remember the series, the intro to the show is quite memorable. In the following
article, we learn more about the popular Man of Steel issue.
PSA SET REGISTRYSM SPOTLIGHT
Franks t9 Set - The Number One Current Finest 1911 Turkey Red Boxing (T9) Set
As hobbyists, we often talk about cards that possess exceptional eye-appeal due to their
design or possibly the artwork used within a particular set. That said, most cards that fit that
description are standard-sized issues or smaller like the T206s in baseball. Other times, cards
combine all those attributes in addition to a much larger format, which really gives them a striking
appearance. That is the case with the T9 Boxing cards. While the total number of cards needed to
complete the set is small (26), the cards themselves are enormous. At 5 ¾" by 8" these brown bordered
relics help bring the boxers of the past, like James Jeffries and Jack Johnson, to life. The 2011
award winning set has a GPA of 5.75, the finest of all-time on the registry.

PSA Q & A
Is the best way to judge the rarity of a ticket based on the attendance at the event?
The rarity of tickets goes much deeper than the mere attendance at an event. Even if the event announces an attendance of 50,000,
the reality is that a very small percentage of those attendees keep their tickets. In addition, these days, a lot of attendees
do not even receive or obtain the full, season tickets. They simply use the electronic tickets for admission, which are not the
tickets that collectors desire or ones that PSA grades. Obviously, vintage tickets can be extremely scarce but even current tickets
are a lot tougher than people think they are. What matters is how many "survive" an event, not how many were made.
When it comes to Superhero-based trading card sets, which type of set do you find most appealing?
to answer. Results will be posted in the next Insider.
- Sets that feature cartoon artwork
- Sets that feature photos from Superhero TV shows
- Sets that feature photos from Superhero movies
- I like all of them equally
