PSA Q & A

Question: I was thinking about requesting the Pedigree service for my baseball card set but have been going back and forth about it. Should I do it?

Answer: The Pedigree service is available from PSA, where your name can be placed on the PSA label to note that it is part of your collection, but it is really up to you. Some people value where the cards once resided but others do not. If the person or collection itself is noteworthy, one that has received praise, then it may benefit you to have the name applied to the PSA label. Provenance doesn't seem to have the same impact on cards as it does with memorabilia (since origin isn't nearly as important with cards) but it can affect value if the name behind the Pedigree is noteworthy. If it is not about the financial impact and you just want to place a family name on the label for personal reasons, then there is no harm in doing so.
