PSA SET REVIEW

1959 Fleer Ted Williams Set PSA Set Registry: 1959 Fleer Ted Williams Set - A Cardboard Ode to Teddy Ballgame
Ted Williams is one of the true icons of baseball. He was, arguably, the greatest hitter who ever lived but his life story is even more interesting than his brilliant performance on the field. Fleer, one of the major card manufacturers in the industry, created an entire set devoted to the player and the man in 1959. In the following piece, we learn more about this incredibly popular set, centered on this legendary player. More...

PSA SET REGISTRYSM SPOTLIGHT

Boy from Monessen - The Number One Current Finest Roberto Clemente Master Set
This is a category that enjoys a very healthy level of competition due to the popularity of the player, Roberto Clemente, and the popularity of many of his cards. Clemente was just one of those guys who seems to appear in a lot of important, scarce or eye-appealing issues. From great regular issue cards like his 1955 Topps rookie to his scarce 1968 Topps Test issue, Clemente can be found in many great mainstream, regional and oddball sets. This particular set is 98% complete and boasts a set rating of 7.35, a tough chore considering all the hard-to-find Clemente cards needed to build the collection. Populated with several "Top Pop" cards, it's no wonder this set is an award-winning one. Click here to view the set.

PSA Q & A

Question: I noticed that there is a decent number of Walter Johnson T206 portraits in PSA Mint 9 listed in the Population Report. Is there a reason for the slightly higher number of Mint 9s versus some other cards?

Answer: Yes - the Walter Johnson portrait was one of the cards found (in relatively decent numbers) within what is known as The Southern Find from years ago. Keep in mind that the Johnson portrait can be found more often in PSA 9 but it is relative to the rest of the set. In actuality, it is still a very tough card in PSA 9 since there are only several known at this time - after almost 20 years of PSA grading.
