PSA Q & A

Question: I noticed you were putting signed photos in holders now but your service indicates that you will only put graded ones in holders. What exactly are you grading - the autograph or the photo?

Answer: For signed photographs, PSA grades the autograph only - not the photo. The autograph is not graded on penmanship and legibility either; it is strictly graded on condition on a scale of 1-10 with "10" being best. For example, we all know athletes like Babe Ruth and Mickey Mantle have very attractive autographs but guys like Muhammad Ali and Greg Maddux do not. As long as the condition of the autograph is strong, it can still achieve a PSA/DNA Gem Mint 10 - no matter how bad the penmanship is.
