Pete Rose 1970 Topps Baseball: Is There Such a Thing as a Hobby Jinx?
The 1970 Topps baseball issue is sandwiched between two very popular sets. The 1969 Topps set had a tremendous selection of cards, including Mickey Mantle's final career card and the ultra-tough White Letter variations. The 1971 Topps set, with those incredibly tough black borders, has become one of the most challenging sets to complete in high-grade. What about 1970 Topps? In the following article, we learn more about the set that is sometimes overlooked by collectors. More...

Joe Orlando Meet Joe Orlando, President of PSA and PSA/DNA Authentication Services
Joe Orlando, a lifelong hobbyist, has been with PSA for over 11 years. Starting in 1999, Orlando took on various responsibilities and worked his way up until he became the president just a few years later. Prior to joining PSA, what many people may not know is that Orlando was actually one of PSA's very first customers in the early-1990s. In the following interview, Orlando talks about his early connection to PSA, how collecting affected his life and his ultimate vision of the company. More...

The Stock Car Museum - The Number One Current Finest 1991 Pro Set Racing - Basic Set
Collecting racing cards has slowly gained in popularity in the last few years and it has been due, in large part, to collectors like Logan Ward who have taken it upon themselves to be a leader in a particular category. Sharing areas of interest with other collectors can help expand the market and that is good for all involved. This set, which contains 148 cards, features not only the drivers who race to the finish line but it also features several of the cars they drive. It also includes a few error cards that were corrected at a later date, providing some variations in the set. This year's winner has a tremendous GPA of 9.61, (along with images for each card) leaving it with no peer. Click here to view.

PSA Q & A

Question: I have a game-used jersey and was considering having it autographed. What would you suggest?

Answer: Many collectors like having their game-used jerseys signed but there is something to consider before you do. Since the item being signed is a fabric - usually a knit or flannel - the autograph can bleed over time or the fabric can, in essence, absorb parts of the autograph as the ink sinks into the jersey. Now, this doesn't happen all the time but it is a consideration. I would suggest talking to hobbyists with experience and they can give advice about the type of pen to use, the area of the jersey that is best to sign, etc., before proceeding.
