PSA PLAYER SPOTLIGHT

Satchel Paige The Timeless Appeal of the Ageless Satchel Paige
Despite a brief big league career, Satchel Paige will always be remembered as one of the men who paved the way for African-American players of the future. Along with Jackie Robinson and a few other Negro League standouts, Paige played a key role in the late-1940s. Even though Paige was well past his prime by the time he finally got the chance to pitch in the majors, this ageless wonder showed us a glimpse of what might have been. In the following piece, we explore the career of the pitching legend. More...

In the following editorial, Joe Orlando discusses how this unnecessary and unethical practice harms the hobby. More...

PSA Q & A

Question: How does paper loss affect the grade of a card?

Answer: Well, it all comes down to severity. Often times, a card will grade no higher than a PSA 1 or 2, or simply PSA Authentic, if there is significant paper loss on the front or back of a card. You often see significant paper loss on vintage cards that were once glued in albums. There are other times where very minor loss can occur from simple wear on the tip of a corner or minor paper loss from the cut that will still allow a card to qualify for a much higher grade. The bottom line is that there is no black and white rule. The severity of the paper loss will dictate the grade.
