Trust: A Hobby Observation
Trust is an ultra-important issue in life. Whether it's a personal matter or a professional one, trust can be the strength of any
relationship or the weakness of one if it doesn't exist. How does trust affect what we do as hobbyists? In the following piece, Joe
Orlando discusses how this issue can alter the way we collect and hinder our experience, whether we trust no one or trust way too easily.

The Tylicki Portrait Gallery
Collectors are often fascinated by what other collectors do. They want to know how their fellow hobbyists think and how they chose the theme of their
collection. Mark Tylicki is a card collector who has amassed a group of PSA graded cards with an interesting twist. He doesn't collect traditional
complete sets or collect by player or team; he collects by pose -- portraits. In the following article, we learn more about how Tylicki began his
portraits-only collection.

PSA Q & A
Question:
Would a Mickey Mantle autograph on a vintage baseball sell for a premium over a modern-era baseball from the 1980s?
Answer:
In short -- yes -- but the premium might be small or large depending on one key factor... whether or not the autograph
itself is also a vintage example. Unsigned vintage baseballs still appear on the market today, giving living legends like Stan Musial or
Yogi Berra an opportunity to sign them, but real premiums are paid for examples that were actually signed during the period. It is very tough to find
single-signed baseballs, even from the 1970s, because the hobby had not yet become a nationwide industry and signings were not prevalent. So, in the case of
Mantle, the premium could be huge if the autograph dates to the period the ball was manufactured but only slight if Mantle signed it decades later.

After Kobe Bryant won his 4th championship on Sunday, which of the following statements best describes the market for his collectibles?
- Very Hot - Kobe proved that he is the best player in the game and one of the best all-time.
- Fairly Hot - Kobe did what was expected of him so demand for his collectibles remains strong but stable.
- Lukewarm - Kobe may be a living legend but his past controversy in is personal life prevents his collectibles from "Hot" status.
- Stale - No matter how good Kobe performs it will never outweigh the controversy from his past. He will always be tainted, hurting the demand for his collectibles.
