Derek Jeter: A Yankee and Hobby Giant
Derek Jeter has been a staple with the New York Yankees since the early 1990s. Considered a throwback-style player,
Jeter's work ethic and willingness to sacrifice his body has never been questioned. While he may not post the kind of
numbers that Albert Pujols or Alex Rodriguez do year after year, he remains a fan and hobby favorite. In the following piece,
we look at collecting this perennial All-Star through his most popular cardboard.

Tris Speaker: Hunting The Grey Eagle
Tris Speaker was considered the premier centerfielder of his day. Not only was he excellent on defense, Speaker also finished his
career with one of the highest batting averages of all-time. Collecting cards that feature the Grey Eagle can be a lot of fun but it
also can be quite challenging. Featured in some of the most popular sets of all-time like the T206, T205, T3 and 1914/15 Cracker Jack
issues, building a Speaker collection in high-grade will cost you a small fortune. In the following piece, we take an in-depth look at
the player who became a legend.

PSA SET REGISTRYSM SPOTLIGHT
Tom Martin - The Number One Current Finest 1968 Topps Basic Baseball Set
The 1968 Topps set is very important to the hobby. Some say one of the most important, and one of the more unique sets of the decade.
This can be attributed not only to the creative border design, but the host of key-player rookie cards that are in this set. This is not to
mention the All-Star cards and combo cards featuring the likes of Mickey Mantle and Roberto Clemente, etc. This multi-award winning set finds
itself in a category with a ton of competition, making this collectors' accomplishment even more impressive. With an amazing set rating of 9.79,
this set stands above the rest and is clearly deserving of recognition. Spectacular!

PSA Q & A
Question:
If a card was manufactured off-center consistently, let's say with 80/20 centering every time, can that card still qualify
for an unqualified PSA NM-MT 8 or better even though - normally - the cards would not qualify because of the centering?
Answer:
That is a great question. In short, the answer is - no. Sometimes, within large sets of 500 cards or more,
certain cards were cut off-center every single time. It's just the way they were made. Since the rest of the
set's cards can be found with good centering, there is no leniency given to one card simply because it is tougher
or even impossible to find with better than 80/20 centering. The grading standard is applied in the same manner to all cards.

COLLECTORS SURVEY
What is the best way to characterize the way the continued performance enhancing drug controversy has changed your approach to collecting?
- I refuse to collect players who are guilty of using them - period.
- I accept it as part of the game so it doesn't change my habits at all.
- I just have more interest in and a greater appreciation for players of past.
- I am still undecided.
