PSA Q & A

Question: When it comes to evaluating the condition of an original photograph, what is considered most important?

Answer: This is a very good question. As a general rule, unlike with trading cards where the condition of the corners plays such a vital role in the grade/value of a card, the condition of the image is the key. Since photos are appreciated, primarily, for the image, any defects that affect the eye-appeal are worthy of note such as major creasing, rust spots, tears or holes, discoloration or other defects that encroach on the subject in the photo. If these types of defects are found along the edges or away from the subject in the image, the eye-appeal is not damaged nearly as bad since you can display the photo with creative framing, etc.
