PSA SET REVIEWS

The 1969 Topps Super Set -- A Good Place to Start Looking Back...
The 1969 Topps Super baseball set is one that has fascinated collectors for decades. The beautiful design and amazing star selection make it ultra-popular. Abandoning the traditional square design, Topps went with a round corner look. While they are not tough to find in high-grade, they are tough to find since they were, technically, a test issue. In the following piece, we find out why collectors find this set so desirable. Click here to read on.

1956 Topps Football: A Long Road to the Hobby End Zone
The 1956 Topps football set is one that seems to jump out at you due to its incredibly bright presentation. Much like the 1955 Topps All-American set, this issue exhibits brilliant color. Along with tremendous eye-appeal, the set features some key Hall of Fame rookie cards like that of Roosevelt Brown, Lenny Moore and Roosevelt Grier. In the following piece, we learn why this set seems to have so much staying power over 50 years later. Click here to read more.

With only two items in this set that can be improved upon, this set is almost perfect! With a set rating of 8.63, this set is so very close to the finest possible set rating of 8.72. The composite calls for 22 items for completion and contains a special Gordie Howe card which commemorates his 700th goal. This card also happens to be one of the many single finest graded examples in this set. One can clearly see why this set has received awards for 4 years running. Kudos! Click here to enjoy.

PSA Q & A

Question: Is it true that it is harder to forge an autograph with a pencil or pen versus a marker?

Answer: Well, that is what people have said for years due to the fact that a marker is far more "forgiving" than a fine-point pen or pencil since the marker produces a thicker stream of ink. The theory is... the more precise the writing instrument, the harder it is to forge. That being said, master forgers will often use pens and pencils on virtually any kind of medium so it is important that you protect yourself as a buyer no matter what type of writing instrument the item is signed with. Insist that the item is certified by a reputable third party authenticator. Remember, it's your money at stake.
