PSA SET REVIEW

Taking My Hacks: Two Tales of the Faulty Provenance
Provenance...it can provide additional value to a great item or it can be used in hopes of diverting your attention away from the merit of the piece itself. In some cases, it may not be provenance at all. In the following piece, Joe Orlando tackles a controversial subject that hobbyists wrestle with every day. Click here for more.

Collecting the 1933-34 O-Pee-Chee Hockey Set
Vintage hockey cards have continued to pick up steam in the market. In the following piece, the 1933 OPC hockey set is analyzed. Containing several key rookie cards and Hall of Famers, find out why this set remains a staple among hockey collectors. PSA Q & A

Question: I noticed that some PSA graded 1935 Goudeys hit eBay recently with results that were way in excess of SMR. Why did they go so high in relation to SMR?

Answer: Great question. With many high-grade, low population vintage issues, it is very difficult to establish prices because they come up for sale so infrequently. In this case, 1935 Goudeys are extraordinarily tough with their colored borders, etc. Since a nice selection appeared at one time, it gave high-end collectors a chance to build upon their set. This usually results in great prices since it may be a while until collectors will have the chance to buy so many high-end examples in such a short period of time.
