PSA SET REVIEW

The 1970-71 O-Pee-Chee Hockey Set - A "Bruin" to Assemble
The 1970 O-Pee-Chee set is one in a line of ultra-popular productions from the hockey brand giant. This 264-card set is anchored by three key rookie cards, including those of Gilbert Perreault, Bobby Clarke and Darryl Sittler -- all three being Hall of Famers. Always tough, OPC cards are extremely condition sensitive and very hard to find in top grades. This challenge has drawn the attention of more and more collectors who are looking for just that. In the following piece, find out what makes this nearly 40-year-old set a keeper. More...

Brett Favre Registry Sets - Introducing Broadway Brett
Last year, we all thought Brett Favre was hanging up his shoes for good. After an emotional press conference, Favre retired as the most prolific passer in NFL history. This season, Favre's leadership is shining bright as he continues to lead the Jets towards the playoffs. For diehard collectors, was Favre's comeback a good thing for the hobby? In the following piece, collectors share their views on collecting cards of the great quarterback. More...

RAS - The Number One Current Finest 1951 Topps Ringside Boxing Set
The 1951 Topps Ringside boxing set is one that is filled with many of the great pugilists from the past. Greats like Joe Louis and Sugar Ray Robinson can be found throughout the set. Each card in the set is often found off-center, making high-grade examples hard to come by, but somehow, this award-winning set has reached an excellent overall set rating of 8.04, which is very close to the Finest Possible of 8.25. Very nice! Click here to view.

PSA Q & A

Question: I have read that Ty Cobb wasn't exactly the nicest guy in the world yet I see a ton of autographs in the market. What gives?

Answer: Sometimes, demeanor is a great indicator of signing habits and sometimes it's not. With Babe Ruth, his signing habits seem to match his personality. He was extremely social and outgoing. Ruth was also the most prolific signer of his era. Ty Cobb was a terror on the field and not exactly the most personable player in the game but he was considered a fairly prolific signer, one who replied to a lot of fan mail over his life. In contrast, Lou Gehrig was known to be one of the nicest guys in the game yet, due to his shyness, he did not sign autographs nearly as much.
