PSA PLAYER SPOTLIGHT
The Chi of Pistol Pete Maravich Widely considered to be one of the greatest offensive talents in the league's history, Maravich could stun his defenders with magician-like dribbling. He could pass a ball with pinpoint accuracy while looking in the opposite direction and drop a fall-away jump shot while being double teamed. Like the black bird of the ancient Orient, Pete rose up into the wind, firm and strong as if he were gliding through the Allegheny Mountains. Click here to read more about this basketball legend.

PSA Q & A
Question:
I am really fascinated with vintage baseball display pieces. Is it taboo to have them restored and does that affect the value?
Answer:
Vintage display pieces have become increasingly popular over the past few years and some of them are quite valuable. Some degree of restoration is acceptable but the key is the degree of restoration and disclosure. No matter what level of restoration is performed, it is crucial that this fact is disclosed to future buyers so they are aware. When it comes to the degree of restoration, minor forms are generally acceptable by the hobby community but extreme restoration, where the piece may have been repainted extensively and had significant amounts of paper added back to the piece, can cause some buyers to pause and affect the value. In essence, the piece ceased being an original due to the amount of work. In the end, it really comes down to the buyers. While most hobbyists will accept minor touch-ups to enhance the displayable nature of the piece, at some point, the restoration exceeds a generally-accepted amount. As long as there is full disclosure, the buyers can make up their own minds.
