PSA SET REVIEW

1964 Topps Baseball: Sometimes, Plain Vanilla is Best
The year 1964 was a turning point, both for the nation and for the game of baseball. The game's "good old days" seemed to be ending; the Polo Grounds were demolished, the Yankees lost their dominance, and the golden boys of the 1950s retired. Clean and minimalist, Topps' 1964 set was a good fit for the year. Today, it's an excellent choice for the collector looking for an affordable early-'60s set. Click here to read on.

PSA Q & A

Question: Is it possible for a dual signed baseball to be worth more than two single signed baseballs of the same two signers?

Answer: In the market, while it has been commonplace for single signed baseballs to outsell multi-signed baseballs, it isn't always the case. For example, recently, a PSA/DNA authenticated Joe DiMaggio/Marilyn Monroe signed baseball sold for nearly $200,000 at auction. Of course, if two single signed baseballs featuring these two came up for sale, the baseballs wouldn't generate anywhere near that $200,000 number. Sometimes, if it is very rare to have two specific signors on the same ball, that ball could bring a huge premium. There are instances where certain players will not sign anything associated with another due to bad blood, etc. In other cases, the opportunity simply didn't present itself often. In the case of the Joe D./Monroe ball, it would very hard to obtain since they were together for a very short period of time plus Joe did not like to sign items associated with Marilyn after their breakup.
