PSA PLAYER SPOTLIGHT

Remembering and Collecting Kirby Puckett
Kirby Puckett was the third youngest player ever inducted into the Hall of Fame, and sadly, became the second youngest Hall of Famer to pass away when he succumbed to a stroke shortly before his 46th birthday. Kirby is fondly remembered not only for his home run power and outstanding defensive abilities, but for his great personality, his charity work, and his overall "good-guy" attitude. PSA COLLECTORS CORNER

The Journey of Josh Wolf: California Collector Amasses T206 Set in Record Time
While there are thousands of collectors who have amassed great collections, only a scant few have assembled truly world-class collections. One of the hallmarks of making it into the upper echelon of card collecting is to have put together a full T206 set. Josh Wolf of Half Moon Bay, California, has not only entered into that rarefied air in which the greats reside, he has done it at an age and in a timeframe that is unheard of. PSA Q & A

Question: I was talking to a dealer the other day and he asked if I was looking for a Babe Ruth check "in his hand" or not. What did he mean?

Answer: Well, there are some personal checks that were filled out entirely by Babe Ruth, which generally sell for a slight premium. Other Ruth checks are signed by him but filled out by a secretary or his wife. Since Ruth was on the road quite often, it is believed that he would leave stacks of signed checks behind to cover expenses, etc. It is not uncommon to see examples like this where Ruth signed the check but didn't fill it out.
