Jeffrey Brewer (Redsoxjeff's Quest back to 1977) - The Number One Current Finest 1977 Topps Set In 2005, Jeffrey won the "Best of the Registry" award for his 1977 Topps baseball set. This year he won the major award for Best Modern Baseball Set of the Year (1972-present)! Ranked as one of the decade's toughest sets due to poor paper quality, it is an amazing achievement to obtain a GPA of 9.25 for a set of 1977 Topps. This award is well-deserved. Congratulations Jeff! PSA Q & A
Question:
I know that the 1985 Donruss and 1987 Donruss cards both have black borders but is one issue tougher than the other to find in Mint condition?
Answer:
In short - yes. While they both have black borders, the 1985 Donruss issue was produced with edges that chip far more easily than the 1987 issue. You will notice that these cards, even if taken directly from a pack or factory set, will often show wear (white) along the sides and at the corner tips. This set is simply more fragile so true Mint and Gem Mint copies are quite desirable.
