PSA EDITORIAL

Problematic "Provenance"
Every time a piece of sports memorabilia comes up for sale, the issue of provenance rears its ugly head. Remember: it takes more than just a good "story" to prove that a bat was owned by Mantle, or that a ball was signed by Ruth. Click here to read on.

PSA Q & A

Question: I have noticed that T3 (Turkey Reds) have been selling for huge prices in the marketplace. Is there a specific reason?

Answer: Of course, there are a lot of reasons why T3's have been bringing huge numbers but besides the great selection of cards and age, condition rarity and eye-appeal are the two primary reasons. Their large size is a double-edged sword. While the huge format makes them one of the most visually appealing issues ever made, that size also made it terribly difficult to preserve them. Finding T3's in PSA EX 5 or better is almost likened to finding a 1950s card in PSA NM-MT 8 or better -- it's a real chore at times. That condition rarity and eye-appeal make this issue tough to beat.
