PSA COLLECTOR'S CORNER

Dr. Stephen Soloway's Quest for Completion
As a child, Stephen Soloway used to drop trading cards from the window of his family's apartment in a Queens, New York highrise. Today, as a respected Southern New Jersey rheumatologist, he would never think of treating his cherished treasures in such a cavalier manner. He is the only person to date to have registered a fully graded, complete 1909-11 T-206 White Border set on the PSA Registry. Click here to read about it.

PSA EDITORIAL

After the Storm
It is only four years ago that our great nation came under attack on September 11, 2001. Recently, our nation came under another form of attack, Mother Nature. Through all these ordeals, sometimes we just need to escape for a little while. Anything that can bring a smile to your face is worth the time. It is much easier to disappear into your collection or relive the memory of playing catch with your father, than to endure the negativity that is seemingly too common nowadays on the evening news. PSA SET REGISTRY SM SPOTLIGHT

William Gray - The Number One Current Finest 1948 Leaf Basic Football Set
In the June 2002, PSA Insider, we put the spotlight on William Gray's 1948 Leaf set. Every year since then, William has been awarded the "Best of the Registry." This year, his set received top honors and given the Best Vintage Football Set of the Year (pre-1960) award. We thought it only fitting to highlight William's fine set again this year. 92% of the set is filled with "Top Pops," and an amazing 39 cards are the finest graded. Congratulations to this very deserving award winner! Click here to view.

PSA Q & A

Question: How is it possible that some tickets remain in Mint condition if the game was played?

Answer: Great question. There are two primary reasons. First, not all tickets are torn at the gate. Some venues merely scan the tickets into the system. When it comes to vintage tickets, some (though a smaller %) were never used. In other words, the people never showed up at the event, leaving an unused ticket in the marketplace. You would be surprised, even at some big events, how many seats go unused.
