PSA Q & A
Question:
How condition sensitive are cards from the 1959 Fleer Ted Williams set?
Answer:
These cards, while not terribly difficult to locate in PSA NM-MT 8 condition, are surprisingly tough in Mint 9 and especially Gem Mint 10 grades. The cards have some basic condition obstacles like centering problems but the biggest issue is, perhaps, the problems associated with the edges and corners. The cards are often found with "blunting" of the corners and some of the cards have reverse paper wrinkle issues. The "blunting" hinders the grade, often sending otherwise Gem Mint or Mint cards down a grade. It creates the appearance of a worn corner because of its shape.
