Randy Johnson - The Big Unit in The Big Apple
Randy Johnson, The Big Unit, is in The Big Apple -- he's in pinstripes, and New Yorkers are pinning their big dreams on the hope that the 41-year old pitcher still has what it takes to put the 2005 World Series Trophy in the executive offices of the "House That Ruth Built." Click here to read on.

SET REGISTRY SPOTLIGHT

Russ Romberger - The Number One Current Finest 1968 Topps Game Baseball Set
A 2004 "Best of the Registry" award winner, Russ has built a 1968 Topps Game set that will hard to beat. With a very high GPA of 9.35 on this very tough set, Russ rules the #1 spot. Only four cards in his 33-card set are NOT "Top Pops" which means that if Russ keeps upgrading, he soon could have the finest possible set score. Congratulations! Click here to enjoy.

Set Registry Luncheon Planned in July
This year's PSA Set RegistrySM luncheon will be held on Friday, July 29, 2005 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois, during the National Sports Collectible Show. Formal invitations to this event will be emailed to all Set Registry members at the end of May. We look forward to seeing old friends and new members this July.

New Deadline Announcement for 2006 Awards
As in previous years, the deadline for the 2005 PSA Set RegistrySM awards is October 31, 2005. However, beginning in 2006, the awards deadline will be moved up to May 31st. This will allow us to recognize the winners with their awards at the summer PSA Set RegistrySM luncheons. This move will give you a shorter window the first year in which to update your sets, but will fall back to the 12 month period in 2007. Click here to learn more about the PSA Set RegistrySM Awards.

Important Notice Regarding Missing Spec Numbers
If you attempt to add a card to your set that does not have a spec number associated with it, you will get an error message. You should email [email protected] with the certification number of the card. Note that it is NOT necessary to send a scan of the card. The spec numbers are PSA's internal numbering system. A spec number error message does not mean that the card is not in the database. It merely means that we need to add the spec number to the Set Registry. There will be a high incident of missing spec numbers in modern sets, player sets, and HOF sets.

PSA Q & A

Question: Is the Honus Wagner card the toughest card in the hobby?

Answer: Great question. The Honus Wagner card, technically, is not even the toughest card in the T206 set but difficulty is only part of the Wagner card legend. While it remains very tough, with only 50 or so copies known to exist, that does not tell the whole story. The card's appeal has many facets. First, Wagner was an original inductee into the Hall of Fame in 1936 along with the likes of Ruth and Cobb. Second, Wagner was a member of the 3,000 Hit Club. Third, based on documentation of the day, Wagner wanted his card pulled from production because the T206 cards were packed with cigarettes and Wagner did not want to promote tobacco use to children. Despite being an avid tobacco user himself, his concern was focused on the children. Over time this card has taken on a legendary status and is often mistaken as the rarest of rare. While the card is certainly very rare, it's the entire story that brings the card to life.
