PSA Q & A

Question: I just saw a photo of Mantle and Mays in an auction that is supposedly signed by Mickey Mantle with an inscription that reads "Willie Sucks" -- can this be real?

Answer: Believe it or not -- yes. Mickey was known for having a great sense of humor and there are completely authentic signed Mantle pieces in the marketplace with similar inscriptions. The problem is that, due to their popularity, forgers have been known to add these funny inscriptions to forged Mantle signatures. The authentic examples sell for major premiums but please beware of the forgeries and use reputable 3rd party authenticators.
