Autograph Analysis and Signing Habits of Hall of Fame Catcher and Manager Wilbert "Uncle Robbie" Robinson
An early baseball figure, Wilbert Robinson started his career as a catcher in the late nineteenth century. PSA SPORTS STORIES

Newbies of the NFL
This year's NFL draft was full of a lot of promise -- and of a certain family name, as Eli became the third Manning to be selected in the first round. Deals were reached, players were selected, and decisions were made that will ultimately impact the future of teams and collectible cards. David Laurell has many thoughts about all this, and in this article, he shares them all. Click here to continue.

PSA Q & A

Question: How does an inscription affect the value of an autograph?

Answer: An inscription or a personalization can affect the value of an autograph in both a positive or a negative way depending on the content. For example, if an autograph includes an inscription of achievement or a milestone like "Mickey Mantle 536 Home Runs" or "Johnny Bench Hall of Fame 1989" then the effect can be positive as many collectors enjoy special inscriptions such as these. On the other hand, a personalization may affect the value in a negative way; for example, "To Johnny Smith from Babe Ruth" is generally worth less than just "Babe Ruth." The one exception to this may be when the personalization is made to someone famous, for example, "To Lou [Gehrig], a great teammate and friend, Babe Ruth" would help this item sell for a major premium because of the content.
