PSA EDITORIAL

The Horrific Hall of Ball
Dennis Eckersley and Paul Molitor were selected in 2004 as the newest members of Baseball's Hall of Fame. These players may have earned that recognition, but does every player in the HOF really deserve to be there? And if they do, what about other borderline HOFers who haven't been inducted? PSA President Joe Orlando sounds off. Click here to continue.

PSA EXPERT'S CORNER

Signing Habits and Autograph Analysis of Hall of Fame Pitcher Eppa "Jeptha" Rixey, Jr.
He was the left-handed pitcher with the most wins, at least until Warren Spahn came along. He's still the southpaw with the most losses. PSA Q & A

Question: How common is it for players to change their autograph over time?

Answer: It is very common. In fact, to illustrate the point, you should check your own handwriting patterns over the course of your life and you will see that (in many cases) people generally develop different patterns in signature style. A dramatic example of this would be Mickey Mantle. His early signature lacked the style and flamboyance of his later signature and you can see the development of it in documents signed year after year during his playing days. In other cases, signatures become more rushed as demand goes up. In those cases, it's almost like the signature becomes more illegible as the player's popularity increases. Change is very common.
