PSA PLAYER SPOTLIGHT
Charlie Controversy: A Look at the Ever-Popular Pete Rose
There is certainly nothing new about a professional athlete being caught up in controversy. Shoeless Joe Jackson, Mike Tyson and O.J. Simpson serve as examples of controversial athletes who continue to spark debate among sports fans. But perhaps no athlete's name sparks a greater debate than that of Pete Rose. PSA SPORTS TRIVIA
World Series MVP: Who Was the Best For All the Marbles? (Part One)
The World Series Most Valuable Player award has been given out since 1955. The second man to win the prize was also the first (and only) man to pitch a World Series perfect game. Sandy Koufax won the award twice, as did Reggie Jackson and what other player? The mighty Yankees, the Miracle Mets, the Big Red Machine and great moments in the sun.

PSA Q & A
Question:
I was looking to buy a Lou Gehrig autographed check but I noticed that they were so expensive according to SMR. Why are they so pricey compared to Babe Ruth checks?
Answer:
Very good question. While Ruth is certainly the "King" of autographs, Gehrig checks are much more scrace than Ruth examples. Some experts feel that there are only about 12-15 known Gehrig checks in the marketplace today while there are dozens of Ruth examples. Also, keep in mind that, generally, Gehrig was a very private man while Ruth was very social -- leading to many more legitimate Ruth autographs in the hobby.

COLLECTORS SURVEY
It's that time of year again as the NFL is revving up for action. What we want to know, of course, is who's going to win it all? There isn't enough room to list all 32 teams, so the choices are limited to the top five according to the "experts" and the Las Vegas odds.
- Tampa Bay! The Buccaneers are HEAVY favorites to repeat.
- Philadelphia! It's going to be difficult to go against this powerhouse. They're considered the #2 favorite.
- Miami! Why is this team rated so high? Maybe somebody knows something!
- St. Louis! The Rams are loaded with talent but they were a mystery last year. Will they win the 2004 Super Bowl?
- Oakland! The Raiders are ranked with the Rams as the fourth/fifth choice. Maybe they're the best team of all!
Click here to answer. Results will be posted in the next Insider.
Results from last survey: 36% selected Pedro Martinez as the best pitcher in baseball. Click here for a complete breakdown.
