The 3000 Hit Club is filled with many of the greatest pure hitters in the history of the game. Some were able to amass the necessary numbers with prolific performance like Ty Cobb and Tris Speaker while others used longevity and endurance like Pete Rose and Robin Yount. Much like baseball’s other exclusive clubs, this club might be defined better by those who didn’t reach the magic number than those who did. Ted Williams, Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig and Rogers Hornsby are just a handful of the legendary names that never quite got there.
