Jackie Robinson

SCP Auctions is proud to announce the sale of a significant private collection of Jackie Robinson Memorabilia. Assembled by a New York area father and son, "The 42 Collection" was inspired by their love of baseball and admiration of the courage and character of Jackie Robinson. The collection includes two of the most important Jackie Robinson game used bats in existence that, until recently, had been displayed in the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y. The collection is being made available publicly for the first time as part of SCP Auctions' Fall Premier Auction. The Fall Premier Auction opens Wednesday, November 20th. Register now!

On April 15, 1947, in one of the most anticipated events in baseball history, Jackie Robinson donned his Brooklyn Dodger uniform, trotted out to the field against the Boston Braves and, in one fell swoop, obliterated the color line that had barred black players from playing major league baseball. SCP Auctions VP Dan Imler states, "Volumes have been written and feature films have been produced documenting the extraordinary impact of that event and Jackie's role in everything from sports in America to the dawning of the civil rights era. Suffice it say that no single baseball player in our history had as much impact on our country and in our culture than Jackie Robinson. SCP Auctions is thrilled to present these rare and historic items, some of which were utilized by Jackie in one of the most transcendent periods in baseball history."
