We've recently come across a center brand variation seen on some Hillerich & Bradsby bats from the 1950 season. The variation features a smaller version of 'REG. U.S. PAT. OFF' then normally seen on 1950 to 1960 bats (C15A). At first glance the center brand will appear to be from 1961 to 1964 (C-16). However a closer inspection reveals that 'REG. U. S. PAT. OFF. is somewhat larger than 1961-1964 and somewhat smaller than 1950-1960.
Specifically, on the 1950 variation, REG.U.S. PAT. OFF. appears under the center brand from below the 'U' in Louisville to beyond the comma in Louisville, KY. The standard 1950-1960 center brand has REG. U.S. PAT. OFF. under the oval extending from between the 'O and U' in Louisville to under the 'K' in KY. From 1961 to 1964 REG. U. S. PAT. OFF. appears under the oval extending from the 'U' in Louisville to the comma in Louisville, KY.
Other features of the variation include the 1948 to 1950 version of 'Powerized' (P-16) and a smaller 125 in the center brand that has a right side bias with the 1 over the ampersand in 'Hillerich & Bradsby Co.'
Notable players that are affected by the variation are Jackie Robinson, Joe Dimaggio, Roy Campanella, Johnny Mize, Ralph Kiner, Stan Musial, Al Rosen, Monte Irvin, Larry Doby and any other player from the era whose bat could be interpreted as a 1961 to 1964 bat.

Appears with P-16 'Powerized'
- C-15 variation is somewhat larger than C-16 with the last F. in OFF. extending beyond the period in Louisville.
- C-15 appears with P-16 (1948-1950) version of Powerized.
- C-15 also has the 125 in the center brand positioned to the right of the ampersand. Note the 1 is above the ampersand.
