Legacy's owner, Greg Bussineau, comments: "I'm very excited to be re-entering the premium auction business. I have many fond memories associated with my years running Superior Sports Auctions. Now, as then, our focus will be on outstanding vintage sportscards. We've put together a great selection of items for our March sale, in addition to instituting a number of progressive, customer-centric policies for the auction. We're looking forward to this being just the first of many, many successful events." Commenting on the state of the market for sports collectibles, Bussineau says, "The market for premium sports collectibles remains remarkably strong. Just recently, there have been many sales of important pieces at all-time record high prices. I believe that in times of economic uncertainty, people derive a strong sense of security from owning 'tangible' items such as collectibles. Unlike many financial assets, collectibles cannot be arbitrarily debased."

Legacy Sports Rarities was founded in 2002 by veteran dealer Greg Bussineau. Bussineau founded Superior Sportcard in 1982 and Superior Sports Auctions in 1996. Superior Sports Auctions was purchased by Collectors Universe in 1999, upon agreement that Bussineau would stay on and run the company for three years. At the end of this agreement, Bussineau decided to go back into business for himself and formed Legacy Sports Rarities.

In addition to buying and selling virtually every major important sportscard ever produced, Bussineau has been instrumental in helping to assemble some of the greatest sportscard collections in history. He was chosen to auction off the personal memorabilia collection of basketball Hall-of-Famer Bill Sherman, as well as the personal sportscard collection of PSA founder David Hall. Bussineau was also one of three people who helped to formulate the original grading standards employed by PSA – the world's largest independent sportscard third-party grading and authentication service.

Legacy's next auction is scheduled for mid-summer 2009 and they are currently accepting consignments for the sale. Anyone interested in consigning to the sale should call Greg Bussineau at (231) 922-8037.
