Rock And Roll

Original Artwork of John Lennon Used For Z Cachet Envelope
To commemorate the events of a particular day in history cachet envelopes were developed. Over the years these envelopes have become widely collectible. One of the oldest companies to offer these gems is the firm that marks their envelopes with the familiar "Z" insignia. Each envelope is a #6 ¾ envelope (3 5/8" X 6 ½") made of highest quality 100% rag content acid free paper. Original painted designs are printed offset on a swatch of silk. Our offering here is for the original painting used to commemorate the date of "The Silent Vigil" of December 14, 1980. This date was set aside for fans of the slain Beatle to gather at Strawberry Fields in Central Park. Thousands gathered in the park and stood in silence as a tribute to the great "Peacenik" The envelope is postmarked by the U.S.P.S. "New York, NY December 14, 1980, 10001." The artwork features the likeness of John Lennon and Yoko with a red and pink designed background. The long haired Lennon is featured, very much to his likeness prior to the morning of December 8, 1980 - John got a haircut that morning. The original measures 8.5 x 11 and the medium used was gouache paints and black ink on an illustration board. This particular image was painted by artist, Joe Catalano. The backside of the board is stamped "John Zaso, P.O. Box 310, New Hyde Park, NY 11040. The illustration board used was manufactured for the Pearl Paints Artist Supply stores in the tri-state area. The sale of this original artwork creates the unique opportunity for a fan of John Lennon to take ownership of the original art used to produce this sought after cachet. It is ironic for this to be offered on December 8, 2005, the 25th anniversary of John Lennon's death.
