Seaford NY, April 19, 2003 - It is hard to characterize any Lelands.com auction as carrying "the usual array," because as spectacular as the lots are, auction after auction, the company continues to come up with magnificent items with each new catalog.
This spring's online action, to be held Thursday and Friday, May 29-30 (Americana and pop culture on Thursday, sports on Friday), will include no less than the only Babe Ruth home jersey offered on the market (two others are believed to exist, but are not expected to be sold). The pinstriped uniform circa 1925 (no NY, no number), bears "G.H. Ruth" stitching in the collar, and includes holes for a "fat strap," used to keep it tucked in. The reserve is $50,000.
